Product Description
The Tubbi knockbox is the perfect accessory for home baristas to help you dispose of your espresso pucks. It has been over a year in development and gone through many prototypes but finally we got there in the end with a brilliant, yet very simple design. All it is, is a plastic tub and a bar! No nuts or bolts or anything.
The knockbox may be small but it can comfortably hold 10 double pucks of coffee before it needs emptying. To empty just lift the rubber bar out and discard the coffee as you wish. A silicon ring on the bottom prevents it moving about the place and also helps to reduce the noise.
To wash we recommend you just give it a rinse in mild detergent. The plastic tub is dishwasher safe but we are not sure you need to go that far as a mild rinse works every time.

This Cafelat Tubbi on the other hand is brilliantly designed and perfect for our needs, for these reasons:
• Excellent, three-piece construction: box, bar, footer rubber insert for non-skid stability.
• The rubberized bar is heavy-duty, and fits snug into place; but is easy to remove for cleaning.
• The rubberized footer fits perfectly with a tight seal, but is also easy to remove and reassemble if needed.
• The whole things cleans up in about 15 seconds: remove the bar, dump, rinse, and replace the bar.
• Small size is perfect size for about 6 - 10 pucks, then dump. I pull that number daily; so this is perfect for me.
• The color (black) hides the messiness of the pucks well - they blend in. This is important to me. Keeps the area looking clean.
• The holes on either side of the bar at first looked small, but just smack the center of the bar, and the puck easily flips out of the portafilter, over the bar.
Removing a puck after a shot was my least favorite part of the process. It was a loud and messy task; but the Tubbi's simple, functional design makes it super easy to flip the puck out, and to keep things clean and tidy around our espresso workstation.
One aspect of the Tubbi that I really like is how the entire thing is made of sturdy plastic, and the bar has some kind of rubbery coating. It also has a rubbery pad on the base to keep it stable and preventing it from slipping around on the counter. The bar fits snugly into the cutouts with just enough friction to keep it firmly in place, but not so tight as to prevent it from being easily removed for cleaning. The Tubbi holds about a week's worth of grounds, and most of the time all I need to do is give it a quick rinse under the tap to clean it out. It stands up well to a good firm whack with a 58mm brass portafilter, and from my experience with it so far, I have no concerns about breakage or it standing up over time. It's also _relatively_ quiet to use since it's basically the rubbery bar against plastic.
Unlike the Standard Size Stainless Steel Espresso Knock Box , I don't have any concerns of the rubber grommets eventually breaking down and having metal-on-metal contact. I would recommend the Tubbi without reservations as long as you're looking for a small knockbox for home or other lightweight use (due to the modest size, not because I think it wouldn't hold up to more vigorous use).
The Grindenstein is too small for our household of 2 frequent espresso drinkers. This knock-box (-bucket?) is just the right size for our daily volume of triple-shot pucks. I like that the bar fits snugly and doesn't bounce around, requiring the user to apply slight pressure to pop it out of its slot. I remove the bar and rinse it off, then easily dump the bucket contents into the compost. I have plenty of colorful items at my espresso station in the kitchen so opted for a black Tubbi, and I'm glad I did. It's a forgiving color (so is the brown) for the messy job it does. The black Tubbi also cost less than the other colors, which worked particularly well for me, because my only complaint about the product is that it's too pricy for what it is.
Incidentally, the Tubbi fits on the deck of our Rancilio Silvia on the right side near the steam wand. We don't keep it there, but it fits quite nicely, for those interested. Good purchase, would buy again if it mysteriously went missing.

Only other comment is the back could be higher as if the grounds are wet you can if you are not careful splash old coffee on to the wall behind. It is worth noting that most do not have a raised back at all though.
Cleans up easily and the bar removing is a really good feature.

The rubber on the bottom does a great job of reducing noise and it rinses clean with ease.
